Our Commitment to Safeguarding
Beyond Sasa Virtual School is committed to promoting the safety, dignity, wellbeing and protection of children and teenagers who participate in our learning programmes, mentorship activities, digital platforms and other services.
We believe that every child and teenager has the right to learn in an environment where they are treated with respect and where concerns about their safety are taken seriously.
This includes students, parents and guardians, teachers, mentors, facilitators, administrators, volunteers and other people who interact with our programmes.

Safeguarding concerns should be reported, documented and addressed through appropriate channels.

This safeguarding commitment is particularly focused on children and teenagers participating in Beyond Sasa programmes.
- Children participating in educational programmes.

Expected Behaviour
Everyone involved in Beyond Sasa is expected to contribute to a safe and respectful learning environment.
Teachers & Mentors
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
- Treat learners with dignity and respect.
- Avoid inappropriate communication or behaviour.
- Raise safeguarding concerns through the appropriate channels.
- Protect learner information and privacy.
Students
- Treat other learners with respect.
- Avoid bullying, harassment and intimidation.
- Use learning platforms responsibly.
- Respect appropriate online boundaries.
- Speak to a trusted adult when something feels unsafe or concerning.
Parents & Guardians
- Support safe participation in online learning.
- Encourage children to communicate concerns.
- Help learners understand responsible online behaviour.
- Contact Beyond Sasa when a safeguarding concern requires attention.
Administrators & Facilitators
- Promote a safe learning environment.
- Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
- Handle sensitive information responsibly.
- Maintain appropriate professional conduct.
Online Safety
Because Beyond Sasa provides digital learning experiences, online safety is an important part of our safeguarding approach.
Learners, parents, teachers and mentors are encouraged to:
- Keep passwords and account information private.
- Avoid sharing unnecessary personal information online.
- Use respectful language when communicating with others.
- Report inappropriate, threatening or concerning online behaviour.
- Tell a trusted adult if an online interaction makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
- Follow the rules and guidance provided for each Beyond Sasa learning platform.
Professional Boundaries
Adults involved in Beyond Sasa programmes should maintain appropriate professional boundaries with children and teenagers.
Communication with learners should be appropriate to the educational or mentoring purpose of the relationship.
Adults should not use their position to exploit, intimidate, manipulate, pressure or otherwise take inappropriate advantage of a learner.
Where communication or interaction raises a safeguarding concern, the matter should be reported through the appropriate channel.
Bullying, Harassment and Harmful Behaviour
Beyond Sasa does not support bullying, harassment, intimidation, discrimination or other harmful behaviour within its learning environment.
Concerns may involve online communication, course activities, mentorship interactions, learner-to-learner behaviour or interactions involving adults.
Concerns should be brought to the attention of Beyond Sasa through the contact details provided below.
Reporting a Safeguarding Concern
If you are concerned about the safety or wellbeing of a child or teenager participating in a Beyond Sasa programme, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
If You Have a Concern
Please provide enough information to help us understand the concern, including what happened, who may be involved, when the concern occurred and any relevant information you believe should be considered.
Do not investigate a serious safeguarding concern yourself. Report the concern to an appropriate responsible adult or relevant authority where necessary.
Immediate Danger or Emergency
Beyond Sasa is not an emergency response service.
If a child or teenager is in immediate danger or requires urgent protection or medical assistance, contact the appropriate emergency service, child-protection authority or other responsible local authority immediately.
You may also notify Beyond Sasa so that we can respond within the scope of our role and responsibilities.
Confidentiality and Information Sharing
Safeguarding concerns may involve sensitive information. We will seek to handle such information responsibly and respectfully.
However, information relating to a safeguarding concern may need to be shared with appropriate responsible persons, professionals or authorities where necessary to protect a child or teenager or where required by applicable law.
Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where sharing information is necessary to protect someone from harm or meet a legal obligation.
Working With Parents and Guardians
Parents and guardians play an important role in supporting children's and teenagers' safety and wellbeing.
We encourage parents and guardians to communicate with learners, understand the learning environment and raise concerns when something appears unsafe or inappropriate.
Where appropriate and consistent with safeguarding and legal requirements, Beyond Sasa may work with parents or guardians when addressing concerns involving a learner.
Policy Review
This safeguarding statement should be reviewed periodically to ensure that it continues to reflect Beyond Sasa's programmes, learning environment, safeguarding practices and applicable requirements.
